The picture below is an old photo of my family’s General Store in
Goessel, Kansas as it looked in the 1930’s. Much like big
department stores today, my family offered a wide variety of food,
clothing, dry goods, and even farm implements. Coffee was ground
fresh in the store and flour could be purchased in large 50 lb.
sacks. In addition to cash or credit, we accepted cream, eggs and
chickens as payment.
What we offer
today...
Here at the Prairie Emporium we provide the highest quality
vitamins, food supplements, home décor, and phone cards at lower
prices than you would expect. Most of the products we offer are
made by small family enterprises or craftspeople who do what they
love and take great pride in their work. Our imported products are
procured through a fair trade organization which helps people
start a business, then pays a fair price for what they create.
